This feature is only available in the Pro edition of the WordPress Questions and Answers.

This way, you can have multiple discussion boards aimed for different user groups, all in one WordPress website!

Create Multiple Forum Categories

To define your Multiple forum categories, you first need to add them in the CM Answers Pro admin menu. You can have as many categories as you wish.

Filtering Multiple forum categories

Once you’ve defined your Multiple forum categories in the main answers page, users will be able to search for answers according to specific categories by using the drop down menu.

Placing your Multiple forum categories on different pages and posts

A category shortcode is a compound of a number of defined parameters, which can be inserted anywhere on your site. Here’s an example of what a shortcode might look like on the back end:

[cma-questions cat=first form=1 limit=2]

This shortcode is defined to display the last two questions from the category named “first”, in addition to one “ask a question” form. On the front end, the information will look like this:

Categories Settings

Click on the Appearance tab and scroll down to the navigation section where you can find the following settings.

  • Category filter mode - Category filter which displays on the thread list.
  • Allow to post questions only in subcategories when the two-level categories filter enabled - Works only when two-level categories filter is set. If disabled, users will be able to post questions to any category. If enabled, users will be able to post questions only in the subcategories.
