Setting error messages for each rule
The Site administrator can choose to set error messages for each Cart Price Rule. In other words for each individual Coupon Code. This allows for a lot finer specificity when displaying error messages and lowers the likelihood that customers are going to end up confused.
To Set an error message for a Cart Price Rule, from the admin dashboard navigate to Marketing → Cart Price Rules. A table of existing Cart Price Rules will be displayed. Click on the cart rule for which you would like to set a Custom Error Message.
Within the detailed view of the Cart Price Rule scroll down to the Custom Coupon Error Message section.
For each predefined error type enter the Custom message that you would like to display to users.
Click the Save button above and to the right of the settings.
