Glossary Term Properties

This feature is only available in the Pro+ and Ecommerce editions of the WordPress Glossary plugin.

Each Glossary Term page includes a customization metabox called “Term Properties”.

Adjusting term properties

The metabox includes the following options that allow to override global plugin settings:

  • Don't parse this item - Ignores the term.
  • Hide tooltip for this term - Tooltip will not be shown in posts or pages for this term.
  • Toggle mobile support - Allows to enable, disable, or follow global setting for mobile support.
  • Disable related articles for this term - If related articles are enabled, this option allows to disable them for this term.
  • Hide term from Glossary Index - If enabled, the term will not be displayed in the glossary index.
  • Custom Glossary Index letter - Define the custom letter that this term will be shown under in the glossary index.
  • Disable Google API for this term - If Google Translate is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term.
  • Disable Merriam-Webster Dictionary API for this term - If MW dictionary API is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term.
  • Disable Merriam-Webster Thesaurus API for this term - If MW dictionary API is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term.
  • Disable Glosbe Dictionary API for this term - If Glosbe dictionary API is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term.
  • Featured Image position - Choose the position of the featured image for this term.
  • Featured Image width - Define the image width of the featured image for this term.
  • Disable Wikipedia API for this term - If Wikipedia API is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term (only available in eCommerce).
  • Don’t show Amazon Banners for term - If Amazon API is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term (only available in eCommerce).
  • Don't show Woocommerce Widget for term - Disabled the Woocommerce widget for the specified term (only available in eCommerce).
  • Disable Wiktionary API for this term - If Wikipedia API is set, it will be deactivated for the specified term (only available in eCommerce).
  • Disable ChatGPT API for this term - If checked, then ChatGPT definitions will not be automatically generated and displayed on the term page and in the tooltip for this specific term. Note: this option was introduced in version 4.2.0 (only available in eCommerce).
  • Disable ChatGPT button on the term page for this term - This option disables the front-end button for generating a temporary ChatGPT definition on the term page. Note: this option was introduced in version 4.3.8 (only available in eCommerce).
  • Disable Gemini API for this term - If checked, then Gemini definitions will not be automatically generated and displayed on the term page and in the tooltip for this specific term. Note: this option was introduced in version 4.3.4 (only available in eCommerce)
  • Disable Gemini button on the term page for this term - This option disables the front-end button for generating a temporary Gemini definition on the term page. Note: this option was introduced in version 4.3.8 (only available in eCommerce)
  • Disable tooltip background for this term? (Transparency) - Make this tooltip transparent. This is useful for showing videos and images or to support Amazon widgets (only available in eCommerce).
  • Don’t show the Featured image in the tooltip - Featured image for the specified term will be shown in the term page, but not in the tooltip window (only available in eCommerce).
  • Don’t show the Featured video in the tooltip - Featured video for the specified term will be shown in the term page, but not in the tooltip window (only available in eCommerce).
  • Choose icon - Choose an icon that will be displayed next to the term in the glossary index. You can choose from the WordPress dashicons list.
  • Select icon color - Choose the color of the icon.
  • Choose icon position - Choose the position of the icon: on the left or on the right from the term.
  • Flush all API Caches for this term - Select and update the changes to flush all API caches for this term.
