How To Auto-Register Guest Users After Purchasing the Content

Back to User Guide

The  CM Video Lessons Manager plugin allows to define, what users are allowed to watch videos. It can be defined in the option Who can watch videos:

The CM Video Lessons Manager Payments Add-on for WordPress supports adding payments support for Video Courses on your WordPress website. It supports WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads as your cart system. Once installing any of these two plugins, you can use any payments gateway to process the payments.

Important

The  CM Video Lessons Manager Payments Add-on allows watching videos after purchasing the access only to registered and logged-in users. It works this way, because the subscription is always associated with the User ID.

Solution

So, if you choose  Everyone (including guests) in the option Who can watch videos, it will not allow guest users to watch videos after purchasing. The solution is to register users after purchasing the subscription. It can be done automatically by installing and activating corresponding add-on for EDD or WooCommerce.

EDD Auto Register

If you use Easy Digital Downloads as the payment plugin, you can install the add-on EDD Auto Register.

After installing and activating the add-on, the additional configuration is not needed. When the guest user purchases the access, he will be automatically registered and logged-in.

What If I Don't Want To Register Users Automatically?

In this case, you can demand users to be logged-in on the checkout page. To do this, navigate to Admin Dashboard → Downloads → Settings → Payments → Checkout tab. Enable the option Require Login, and choose what to display on the checkout page using the option Show Register / Login Form:

  • Registration and Login Forms
  • Registration Form Only
  • Login Form Only
  • None

Auto Register for WooCommerce

If you use WooCommerce as the payment plugin, you can install the add-on Auto Register for WooCommerce.

After installing and activating the add-on, the additional configuration is not needed. When the guest user purchases the access, he will be automatically registered and logged-in.

What If I Don't Want To Register Users Automatically?

In this case, you can demand users to be logged-in on the checkout page. To do this, navigate to Admin Dashboard → WooCommerce → Settings → Accounts & Privacy tab. Disable the option Allow customers to place orders without an account and enable the option Allow customers to log into an existing account during checkout. Additionally, you can Allow customers to create an account during checkout by enabling the corresponding option.
